How Yogoo AI measures AI visibility
Yogoo AI measures AI visibility by counting how many of the AI answers it collected for your market name or link your business. That share is your Yogoo Score. It always comes with the numbers behind it, so instead of a bare 12.7%, you'll see “named or linked in 61 of 480 answers (12.7%)”, pulled from every answer Yogoo AI has collected for your market, up to the last 28 days. Here's the method, step by step.
An engine can't name a site it can't read. If you haven't yet, it takes five minutes to check whether ChatGPT can read your site.

What is the Yogoo Score?
The Yogoo Score is the share of AI answers in a business's market that name or link that business. Once 28 days of answers are in, it's a straight division: the answers that named or linked you, out of all the answers collected. The first 28 days work a little differently, as explained under the 28-day window below.
The score is never shown as a percentage on its own. A score of 37.5% could sit on 8 answers or on 8,000, so Yogoo AI always writes it with its counts, like “180 of 480 answers (37.5%)”, so you can see how much was checked.
The Yogoo Score page has the short version of this.
How does Yogoo AI measure AI visibility?
- Set the market. One service, in one place, in one language, like “SEO agencies in California”.
- Fix the questions. Each market gets a set of about 20 buyer questions, written the way a buyer would ask an AI assistant, like “which SEO companies in California should I shortlist?” Once the set is built, it's locked, so it can't drift.
- Ask the engines. Yogoo AI asks questions for your market every day, spread out so each question is asked on each engine twice a week. Over 28 days, that's about eight times per question on each engine.
- Read each answer. Yogoo AI checks whether the answer names your business or links to your site.
- Report it. Your score sits next to a separate line for each engine, and every engine counts equally toward the total.
The questions don't change from day to day. When your score moves, it's because the answers in the window changed, not the questions.
What is a market?
A market is one service, in one place, in one language, like “SEO agencies in California” or “notary in London”. It's built around what a buyer would actually ask an AI assistant for, so the businesses in a market are competing for the same answers.
Which AI engines does Yogoo AI use?
Yogoo AI measures up to five engines: ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews. Not every market runs all five. Some run three, and your page only shows the engines available for your market, each on its own line.
The engines get separate lines because they behave so differently. In Yogoo AI's 500-prompt study, which collected 8,695 answers, Perplexity cited a source in every answer. The other engines left sources out of some or many of their answers. A single total would hide differences like that.
Why does one AI answer tell you so little?
Ask an AI assistant the same question twice, and the two answers won't always match. In the 500-prompt study, Yogoo AI asked every prompt at least three times on every engine, spaced hours apart, so no prompt was judged on a single run. Your score works the same way at a larger scale: every question is asked on every engine twice a week, and every answer gets counted.
That's why the counts sit beside the percentage. A 3.6% that rests on 56 answers and a 3.6% that rests on 5,600 answers look the same, but the second one rests on a hundred times more answers. There's more on this in why AI answers about a brand change from one day to the next.
What sits beside the score?
Under your score, your page shows the counts that explain it:
- answers that named you in the text
- answers that linked to your site
- answers that named nobody of yours
- where your link usually sat among the links
- how many of your market's questions you appear on
- answers where the engine searched the web before answering
- answers Yogoo AI couldn't collect
- Google searches that showed no AI Overview
These counts are never added up, scored, or charted against the score. They're there to explain it.
How does the 28-day window work?
Your score shows from the very first answer Yogoo AI collects. Until 28 days of answers are in, the page marks it “Still collecting”, and the number of answers behind it keeps climbing. You'll see the counts written like “2 of 21 answers in a full 28-day window”, so you can tell how much of the window is in.
During that time, each question counts equally. For every question answered so far, Yogoo AI takes how many engines named or linked you, out of the engines that answered it, and then averages those results across the questions. The page labels the percentage as that average. This means the percentage won't always match the two counts beside it. “2 of 21 answers” can sit next to 13.3%, because 13.3% is the average across the 15 questions answered so far, not 2 divided by 21.
Once 28 days are in, the score becomes the straight division of the two counts, and the total number of answers stops growing. The window keeps rolling forward, though, dropping the oldest answers as new ones arrive, so your score keeps moving. It doesn't settle.
To see change, compare two dated windows, like the 28 days ending 1 November 2026 against the 28 days ending 29 November 2026. Two single days don't tell you anything.
What will I see on my page?
| What's happening | What your page shows |
|---|---|
| Your market is measured, and answers are still coming in | Your counts so far and a percentage averaged across the questions answered so far, marked “Still collecting” |
| Your market is measured and 28 days of answers are in | Your score with its counts, moving as the window rolls forward |
| Answers came in and none of them named you | 0.0% with its counts, like “0 of 480 answers” |
| Yogoo AI doesn't measure your market yet | Your counts, “We don't measure this market yet”, and a Find my market button |
Any number on your page is a real measurement. When Yogoo AI hasn't measured something yet, the page says so in words.
Is a missing answer the same as a zero?
No. If Yogoo AI couldn't collect an answer, the page says so and leaves it out of the count. If a Google search came back with no AI Overview, that's a real zero: Google answered, and the answer didn't name you.
What if my market isn't measured yet?
Your page shows your counts, says “We don't measure this market yet”, and gives you a Find my market button. Yogoo AI hasn't measured your market yet, so there's nothing to compare your counts against. That says nothing about your business, and nothing you've done or haven't done put it there.
What's free?
Everyone in a measured market gets these at no cost:
- their Yogoo Score with its counts
- a line for each engine
- the rivals named most often in their market's answers
- a sample of their market's questions
Yogoo AI asks your market's questions on the same schedule on every plan, so the answers behind your score, and the score itself, are the same on Free and Pro. Paid plans add more trackers, workflow tools, every question with each engine's full answer, and a dashboard that refreshes more often.
You can see what each plan includes on the pricing page.
What changed on 3 October 2026?
Yogoo AI corrected how the Yogoo Score is calculated on 3 October 2026. Before that, the score was a 0–100 blend of three weighted measures, worked out across software categories. When it moved, nobody could tell which of the three had moved it.
The old method also counted your name or web address when it appeared inside another word. Now a name or web address has to match exactly before it counts. Links to your site still count.
The score now counts one thing in one market. Scores from before 3 October and after it measure different things, so don't compare them.
What doesn't the Yogoo Score cover?
Other markets. Each market stands alone. A score in one market can't be compared with a score in another, and Yogoo AI doesn't add markets together.
Adjustments. Yogoo AI doesn't weight or correct what the engines said. It counts the answers as they came in.
Questions people ask
- What is AI visibility?
- AI visibility is how often AI engines name or link your business when buyers ask them questions about your market. Yogoo AI measures it as a share of answers, with the counts beside it.
- Can I see what each engine said?
- On paid plans, yes. Open any question, and you'll see each engine's full answer and whether it named or linked you.
- What if my business shares a name with something else?
- Yogoo AI works out the names your business goes by, such as your site title, your brand name, and common variants. It looks for exact matches of those in each answer. If the score looks off, you can refine the list of names in Settings.
- What if my business name describes the market?
- Some names are the market description, like "London Business School". Those businesses are measured on their web address instead. On purpose, the count comes out lower than the real number of mentions, never higher.
- Can I cite this methodology?
